"I'd
heard Lori around the Washington area, performing acoustically with her
performing partner Cletus Kennelly, and loved it -- but this is another kind of
sound entirely. Kick-a** instrumentals and vocals to set the town on fire,
soulful writing and songs of passion. Wow. This is the best thing I've heard in
ages and ages. What a talent!"
- Ralph's review on CDBaby.com

In 1975 two teenaged
sisters put their voices together and began to play guitars to beat the heat in
Yuma, Arizona. Lori and Michelle
wrote their own songs, patterning their music after the Eagles and Cat Stevens.
Seventeen years later, they got the nerve to perform at open mike events
in the northern Virginia area, and dubbed themselves Twice Shy.
The girls soon developed an enthusiastic following who encouraged them to
perform more, so they began to play gigs throughout the Washington, DC, metro
area. They picked up a Lost Dog
named Butch Nielson along the way.
That
was back in 1994, and Twice Shy continues to create original music that can
easily fall into the Folk, Alternative, Rock, and Country genres.
Following their first CD, Lori Kelley & Twice Shy “Take Action,”
the trio had songs that were voted #1 in Northern Virginia Rhythm
Magazine’s “Top 10 Songs,” and #1 in the Country/Acoustic category.
Also, NVR listed them as the #1 “Top 20 Best Live
Performances” throughout the 1990s.
They also play those cover songs that inspired them as teens, providing
their listeners with tremendous vocal range and sisterly harmonies sung as if
from one voice. Their
eclectic musical talents will have you smitten—and coming back for another
show.
